Storage & Shelf Life

Store all reagents in a cool, dry place (15–25°C) away from direct sunlight. Microbial kits require refrigeration (2–8°C). Do not freeze reagents unless specified. Check expiry on each reagent pack before use. Shelf life: 6–18 months depending on reagent type.

PPE & Safety Notes

Always wear nitrile gloves, safety goggles, and a lab apron when handling reagents. Avoid skin and eye contact. Work in ventilated areas. Keep reagents away from food, drink, and children. Refer to individual SDS sheets provided with each kit for specific hazard information.

Reagent Disposal

Neutralise spent reagents and dilute with large volumes of water before disposal to drain where permitted. COD vials (dichromate) must be collected as hazardous waste per local CPCB/SPCB regulations. Do not dispose of concentrated reagents directly to drain. Consult your plant EHS officer for site-specific disposal procedures.

Calibration & QC

Calibrate pH and TDS meters daily using supplied buffer and standard solutions. Run a positive control (known-concentration standard) each testing session to verify reagent integrity. Log calibration readings in your field record. Recalibrate if meter drifts > ± 0.2 pH or ± 3% TDS from standard.

Field Training & Ongoing Support

We don't just supply kits — we train your team, provide SOPs, and support your program continuously.

Lab Confirmation & Sample Submission

Recommended workflow: Use portable kit for rapid field screening → log results in site field checklist → send critical or borderline samples to Cleanflo's NABL-accredited laboratory for confirmatory testing and certified reporting.

Chain-of-custody: Label samples with site name, location, date/time, sampler name, and parameters required. Use Cleanflo sample submission forms to ensure traceability.

When to escalate to lab: Results outside compliance limits, suspected process upset, pre-audit or regulatory submission, new water source characterisation, or any result requiring a certified test report.

NABL accreditation: Cleanflo's laboratory is NABL-accredited for water and effluent testing, providing legally defensible results for regulatory submissions, environmental audits, and client reporting.

Sample submission: Contact our lab team to arrange sample pickup or courier, or visit our Laboratory & Testing page for submission guidelines.

Real-World Use-Cases

Representative scenarios where Cleanflo portable kits have made a measurable difference — from scaling prevention to compliance protection.

Cooling Tower — Manufacturing Plant

Scaling Event Prevented

A plant operator's daily cooling tower check flagged rising hardness (380 ppm) and alkalinity well above control limits. Corrective antiscalant dosing was adjusted immediately — preventing a calcium carbonate scaling event that would have required costly CIP shutdown within 72 hours.

Outcome: Scaling prevented. Estimated ₹2.4L shutdown cost avoided.
ETP — Textile Industry

Compliance Breach Avoided

An ETP operator used the Effluent Screening Kit and detected elevated oil & grease at the ETP inlet — traced to a leaking hydraulic pump upstream. The source was isolated within 2 hours, preventing non-compliant discharge and a potential SPCB violation.

Outcome: Compliance maintained. Regulatory notice avoided.
RO Commissioning — Food Industry

TDS Validated at Startup

During RO system commissioning, the field team used the Basic Water Quality Kit to check permeate TDS every 30 minutes across all pressure vessels. This rapid feedback enabled real-time system optimisation before final handover, reducing commissioning time by 4 hours.

Outcome: Commissioning time cut by 4 hours. System validated on schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common field questions answered by our technical team.

Portable kits are designed for screening accuracy — typically ±5–10% of laboratory values for parameters like hardness and chlorine, and ±0.1 for pH. They are sufficient for trend monitoring, process control, and compliance pre-screening. For regulatory submissions, boundary disputes, or values near the compliance limit, always confirm with an NABL-accredited laboratory result.
pH meters should be calibrated at the start of every testing session using 2-point buffer calibration (pH 4.0 and 7.0 or pH 7.0 and 10.0). TDS/conductivity meters should be calibrated weekly or when the reading drifts > ±3% from a known standard. Run a positive control (known-concentration standard) each day to verify colorimetric reagent performance.
Reagent tablets, test vials (COD), dip-slides (coliform), ATP swabs, and indicator strips are single-use consumables. Buffer calibration solutions typically last 6–12 months once opened. pH electrode filling solution and junction need replacement every 6–12 months. Cleanflo offers a consumable subscription service so you never run out during your testing cycle.
Yes — this is one of Cleanflo's key strengths. Our Customised Parameter Kit is built to your specification. Share your site parameters, industry type, and compliance requirements with our technical team and we will configure a kit covering your exact needs. Minimum 3 parameters; typical lead time is 7–14 working days. Contact us to initiate the configuration process.
Most colourimetric reagent solutions can be neutralised (pH 6–9) and diluted with large volumes of water before disposal to drain, where permitted under your site's consent-to-operate. COD vials containing dichromate must be treated as hazardous chemical waste and collected by an authorised waste contractor per CPCB/SPCB rules. Always consult your plant EHS officer and refer to the SDS supplied with each kit for parameter-specific disposal instructions.
All kits include written SOPs and reference cards. On-site or remote operator training is available on request (charges may apply for site visits). Digital meters carry a 12-month manufacturer warranty against defects; reagent packs are guaranteed to shelf-life date. For bulk or corporate orders, extended warranties and annual maintenance contracts (AMC) are available. Contact our team to discuss your specific support requirements.
